Law Under Supervision
A 100 minute documentary in partnership with CANAL + and Planète Justice.
Today a split exists between the French and their legal system. Law is perceived as slow, expensive and unfair, with often nonsensical outcomes.
The Outreau affaire was the paroxysmal expression of this split. After the upheaval, after the reports, after the grandiose declarations of principle, the promises and the reforms finally put in place, what has changed? Has the law budget been raised? Has the independence of judges been assured? The waiting lists reduced? Has there been a rise in the number of sentences passed? Has the recruitment and training of judges improved? Are there more experts, better selected and better paid?
