Résumé

To capture what is most essential and universal in human life.
To capture what man has been sharing since the dawn of time, all across the globe. To capture the great moments that give rhythm to everyone’s existence and structure to everyone’s life: birth, growing up, marriage, parenthood, death.
Life in 5 Acts joins together the world’s five major religions: Islam, Hinduism, Catholicism, Judaism, and Protestantism.

Each filmmaker journeyed to a different country to discover men, women, and families that embrace modernity as much as tradition, in a specifically identified community: Milka Assaf in Lebanon, Jérôme Boyer in the Philippines, Aurine Crémieu in India, Philippe Prigent in South Africa and Philippe Molins in Argentina. These five countries were chosen for their freedom of expression and their religious practices.

Each film is dedicated to one of the major stages in life. From birth to death, we are privy to exceptional ceremonies and intimate encounters, to rites of passage and emotional family gatherings.
Life in 5 Acts gathers, mixes, and confronts 5 viewpoints for a common universal project.
